The Most Important Modern Development for Women

"I'm almost 70. Not even close to needing birth control. And boy! do I care about birth control. I have 5 granddaughters; two are 18, one is 14, one is 12, and one is 10. All but the one who is Down Syndrome have plans, which include neither celebacy nor early and frequent motherhood. And the youngest, while her plans are more modest, does not need to ever face unwanted motherhood, either. Birth control is the most important modern development for women, ever. For the first time in human history, women can plan their lives. I don't care what her politics or religion, no woman would go back to having no choice about being a mother, even those who choose to have several or even many children."
